Night Safety Escort

The Night Safety Escort Service is available for students throughout the academic year beginning Thursday, September 27, 2018 and ending Thursday, June 13, 2019. Service will be available from 7 pm to 12:15 am. However, service is not available during Winter and Spring breaks; nor on the weekends and holidays. Individuals seeking an escort can do so using the Tap Ride App which is available on either Android or iOS. Please see the video below if you haven't downloaded the app yet.

The Night Safety Escort Program is staffed by Student Ambassadors who are employed by the Police Department. This program is not intended to replace existing transportation services such as the Metro Bus and Campus Shuttles. Neither is it meant to discourage individuals from walking in groups. Instead, it is intended to provide a safe and reliable means of transit from one location to another on the campus. The program is meant to ensure the safety of students who feel endangered or unsafe during night hours.

In order to run safely and efficiently, the program has implemented a few limitations. The Night Safety Escort Program cannot provide escort services to or from off campus locations.  Intoxicated and/or disorderly students will not be transported; nor is food or alcohol allowed in the shuttle.  The Ambassadors reserve the right to refuse transport.  Additionally, the Ambassadors may provide walking escorts in lieu of using a vehicle. If you are unable to download the app, please call the Police Dispatch Center at 831.459.2231.
