DESCRIPTION:

Workplace violence incidents, are often unpredictable and evolve quickly.  In the midst of the chaos, anyone can play an integral role in mitigating the impacts of a workplace violence incident.  While there is no “one size fits all” plan, nor can we provide all the answers for every situation that may present itself, the goal of this presentation is to provide you information and tools that will help to build your confidence, get you to critically think, aid you in being able to reasonably act, and to recover in an appropriate and timely manner.  The majority of the information in this workshop can be applied in a variety of situations.

Topics that are covered in this workshop:

  • The basics of workplace violence including discussion on prevention, reporting, and resources.
  • How we as individuals make sense of what happens around us.
  • Discussion on leadership that included some consideration and circumstances that can help you to develop and implement an action plan.
  • Community response to an Active Shooter or Mass Casualty event including lessons we have learned and what you may see play out prior to, during and after first responders arrive on scene. Additional information includes suggested techniques on; how to get out of an area that an active shooter situation is taking place; how prevent an active shooter from getting into an area you are locked down in; and how to go on the offensive.  At the end of this segment we will cover some considerations for yourself, others and your business operations as it applies to continuity and recovery.
  • To end the workshop, we will have a basic introduction to the Stop The Bleed campaign.
