Subject: Campus fire safety

Firefighters yesterday extinguished a small wildfire in upper campus, near the Pogonip. Fortunately, their quick response prevented the fire from growing beyond an acre.

This incident - as well as the deadly wildfires we've seen throughout California this summer - serve as a reminder that we all need to do our part to prevent wildfires. Anyone who smells smoke or sees a fire must immediately dial 911.

The danger to our campus is real. The threat of fire on or adjacent to our campus is serious and potentially devastating; current dry conditions have created an explosive environment.
