The goal of the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act is to ensure students, prospective students, parents, and employees have access to accurate information about crimes committed on the campus and campus security procedures.
The Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act requires institutions of higher education to comply with certain campus safety and security related requirements as a condition of their participation in the Title IV and Higher Education Act programs. The Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act will continue to be required to compile statics for incidents of dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking and to include certain policies, procedures, and programs pertaining to these incidents in their annual security reports. Additionally, hazing is a reportable crime and specific policies, procedures, programs and statistics pertaining to hazing incidents will be included in the annual security report.
Clery Act Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
UC Santa Cruz publishes an Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, which includes important information about safety and security policies implemented to protect the welfare of our campus community. The report provides crime statistics for the previous three years regarding crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings; and property owned, leased, or controlled by the university. The report also contains information about fire safety policies and procedures.
The report is prepared by the Campus Clery Coordinator with input from stakeholders on the Davis and Sacramento campuses, including the UC Davis Police and Fire Departments; the Center for Advocacy, Resources, and Education; Student Housing and Dining Services; the Office of Student Support and Judicial Affairs; and Emergency Management and Mission Continuity.
